Favourite Films
Listed below are my favourite movies
Schindler's List - The most remarkable, absorbing movie that i've ever seen. Scene after scene of incredible moving drama. One particular scene stays in my mind, a lady turns her collar up as if to protect herself from the falling snow, only to discover that the snow is in fact falling ash carried on the wind from a mass cremation. Stunning. Radio Times review click here |

The Lord of the Rings Trilogy - All three films are a brilliant blend of special effects and cinematography. Excellent battle scenes do not overpower the intimate relationships that are formed and you feel real empathy with the plight of the hobbits. Films you can watch over and over again. Ride with the Devil - A Civil War masterpiece from Ang Lee. The film does not preach at you and leaves many question unanswered, perhaps this is 'loose' for those who want to be preached at and want every film to take a moral high ground. But, Ride with the Devil is an intimate portrait of many of the complex issues of life and how individuals get swept along because of friendship and loyalty. Exciting, heart-breaking, unromantic and inspiring. It's a brilliant film. Radio Times review click here |

Sense and Sensibility - Another masterpiece from Ang Lee. Emma Thompson and Kate Winslet are both magnificent in the adapt ion of a Jane Austin novel. The direction is brilliant and avoids all the 'Chocolate Box' styles of some films. You are carried away with the lives of the two sisters and the journey is one of sorrow and joy. This film is a must for a cold winters evening, it makes you feel warm without being sickly. A truly great captivating movie. Radio Times review click here |

Gettysburg -A just over 4 hours long it might seem two long, but the battle scenes are fantastic. Awesome in detail and scale this film just draws you in, one minute you are cheering for the Union Commander Chamberlain has he defends 'Round Top' the next you are urging on the Confederates on as they charge the Union lines. Great, Great movie Radio Times review click here |

The Princess and the Warrior - This German film is brilliant. Franka Potente as Sissi is absolutely brilliant. The scene where Sissi and her boyfriend jump for freedom from the top of the hospital roof is one of the best in movies. Radio Times review click here |

Unforgiven - The best western ever made. The last hour of this is just engrossing. Clint Eastwood and Gene Hackman have never been better. Radio Times review click here |
